Did you know that St. Francis Xavier School is a special place?

For years this small school has been taking in preschoolers through eighth grade students and teaching them the skills they will need as they enter high school and adulthood. Reading, 'Riting, 'Rithmetic, and Religion. The students are well behaved and like going to school there. It all comes from a Catholic perspective.

With much foresight past Parish leaders have provided the School with an excellent facility. More recently it has been remodeled to include a new preschool by removal of walls, a networked computer lab, a new science lab, and an enlarged library to hold an expanding collection to meet the needs of a growing student body.

But some things have not changed. The love of Jesus. Taxes. The high quality of education at St. Francis Xavier. The support of the Parish for the School. The interest and support parents provide for good Catholic education. The cost of running a school continues to increase faster than tuition.

And St. Francis Xavier is doing something about the rising costs too. They formed a Foundation chartered exclusively to help support the School. It works like this. Someone gives the Foundation $1.00, and they prudently invest it with a Catholic perspective, and this returns interest annually that goes to support the school, narrowing the gap between costs and an affordable Catholic education. Per student cost of public schools has passed $5,000 in our state. While costs at St. Francis Xavier aren't near this level, they are still higher than most parents can pay in tuition.

But St. Francis Xavier is a special place. If it weren't for the Foundation's help the Parish would need to support the School to make up all of the difference. And every extra dollar of income coming from the Foundation will free up a dollar of support from the Parish, which then can then be put to the Lord's work in other ways.
