Principal's Newsletter

Hello again,

I hope that everyone enjoyed their mid-winter break along with the not so mid-winter weather. Thank you to all who visited us during conferences last week and also to everyone who took part in our book fair. Val Winther did a wonderful job this year and went above and beyond her duties as school librarian. If you don't believe me, ask Clifford the Big Red Dog. Here are some current and upcoming events:

Private School Aid Service: We sent home applications for financial aid in February. Part of this form asks for a tuition amount. Since we are a tithing school, our payment practices do not fit the method to determine financial need. I have contacted the Diocese office and they want us to leave the tuition line blank. They will compare our school to schools of similar size and give us an amount equal to their tuition. This allows us to keep our practice of tithing while getting the maximum benefit of the financial aid assistance. Non-Parishioners may also apply for this financial aid by following the directions as written on the form.

Ash Wednesday Mass: We will be having the weekly school Mass on Wednesday, March 8, 2000 instead of Tuesday in observance of Ash Wednesday. Please come join us.

Candy sale: We will be offering the chance to take part in our yearly World's Finest candy sale starting March 13, 2000. This is totally optional but has been popular in the past. Please take part if you need some Easter goodies.

Friday, March 17th: This will be a half day with dismissal at 11:15 to allow for school staff to update their Bloodborne Pathogen training. Busses will be running that day, but please make a note of the schedule change.

3rd Quarter Scrip Payment: Friday, March 17, 2000 is also the due date for the third installment of the school operations fee. Amount due is $162.50 minus the earned Scrip credit. Please be aware that 3rd quarter report cards will be held if payment is not up to date. Thank you to all those who use our Scrip program on a regular basis. A reminder to those who could be using it: please make an effort to take part in this program as it reduces your cost through your normal spending habits.
